Lighthouse Christian School founders: Wilbroad & Zicky Chanda
Lighthouse Christian School was established in January, 2005, by Wilbroad and Zicky Chanda. The school is located in the Northrise area of Ndola. While Zicky and Wilbroad were in the United States, they would read stories about the underprivileged, orphaned, and vulnerable children back in their home country of Zambia. This then reignited their passion for these children.
The founders of Lighthouse Christian School decided that when they got back to Zambia, they would start a school that would care for vulnerable children and orphans. In 2003, they began working towards that goal and Lighthouse was then established in January 2005.
Lighthouse also has students who are not orphaned.
These children’s parents are able to pay for the school fees/tuition.
Accordingly, Lighthouse doesn't want to be known as an orphanage, or a school for orphans and the underprivileged. The school wants to give those children the same quality education and equal opportunities that the others have.
